Brawl Brakes Out At CNE
The Canadian National Exhibition shut down early Tuesday night after fights broke out on the grounds, police said.
The skirmishes were mainly pushing and shoving, staff Sgt. Andrew Stinson confirmed. No arrests were reported.
Police were initially called after 9 p.m. for reports of gunshots, which they later confirmed were false.
“The CNE is experiencing one of the busiest nights of the Fair as a result of the popularity of Youth Day,” said a statement from the CNE.
“CNE organizers are winding down operations early as a proactive measure to curtail overcrowding and ensure the safety of our guests. We have deployed additional staff and external resources to facilitate the imminent exit of an exceptionally large number of visitors, especially younger patrons who rely on public transit to safely get home.”
