Open Space With Roy Woods On Toronto, First Time Rapping, Being Bullied & “UTU”
“I stopped talking to everybody in my city before I got signed,’” says Toronto singer Roy Woods, who got down with OVO at age 19. During the NYC stop of his ’Say Less’ tour, Roy stopped by MASS APPEAL HQ to talk about music, herb, his Unlock the Underground brand, and surviving the come-up. “Everybody just started seeing posts of me dropping music in Toronto,” he recalls. “Then they see me in the ‘Energy’ video. Then they’re like ‘Whoa!’ Everybody’s hitting me up now. People that never hit me up before is hitting me up now. At first it used to irritate me, but… I don’t even want to feel that way. I’m not going to let anybody make me feel that way.” Check out the latest episode of Open Space right now.
